​ The 12th Battalion of the Military Police (BPM) of Sorriso has made important advances over the last few years in carrying out its activities in favor of public safety and combating crime in Sorriso.

Among the factors that contributed to this process are the increase in the number of police and vehicles, and the preventive and ostensible work carried out by the corporation.

According to the commander, Lieutenant Colonel Jorge Almeida, among the actions developed, the creation of the Tactical Force platoon stands out, responsible for high-complexity occurrences and strengthening the policing actions of the Military Police in urban and rural areas. For him, the annual training offered to the military police also counts positively for the improvements and efficiency in the work provided to the community. “We focus on the shortest response time to society, in addition to acting in ostensive, preventive and repressive policing on several fronts”, he says.

The Military Police also carries out an integrated work with the other public security forces, acting in the editions of Operação Lei Seca, in approaches to commercial establishments at night and also in the fight against drug trafficking crimes, robberies, thefts, homicides and crimes environmental.

The 12th BPM also develops two important social projects in Sorriso: the Educational Program for Resistance to Drugs and Violence (Proerd) and the “Luz do Amanhã” Project, which serve children and adolescents, in partnership with the City Hall, via Education and Culture and Social Assistance.
